Kara graduated from Farmingdale High School in 2005, where she was named MVP of the Winter and Spring track teams and also received the Coaches Award.

Kara is a sophomore now at Farmingdale State, where last season she set a school record in the Pole Vault with a vault of 8' 10 1/4".
